UPPSC Assistant Town Planner Vacancy 2025

This is a special/backlog recruitment drive with a total of 08 vacancies. The reservation details are as follows:

  • SC (Scheduled Caste of UP): 04 Posts
  • OBC (Other Backward Class of UP): 04 Posts
  • UR/EWS/ST: 00 Posts

(Note: Candidates from other states can apply, but they will be considered under the Unreserved (UR) category. As there are no UR posts in this special recruitment, only SC/OBC candidates of UP are eligible to apply against these reserved vacancies.)

Eligibility Criteria (as on July 1, 2025)

Candidates must meet both the age and educational requirements to be eligible for this post.

1. Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 Years
  • Maximum Age: 40 Years
  • The candidate must have been born not earlier than July 2, 1985, and not later than July 1, 2004.
  • Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable for reserved categories as per UP Government rules (e.g., 5 years for SC/OBC of UP, 15 years for PwBD).

2. Essential Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications by the last date of application (December 3, 2025):

  • A Degree or Post Graduate (PG) Diploma in Town & Country Planning from a recognized institution.OR
  • Associate Membership of the Institute of Planners (India), American Institute of Town Planners, or Institute of Town Planners (London).OR
  • An equivalent qualification as recognized by the government (the notification lists 32 equivalent courses, including M.Tech (Urban Planning), B.Tech (Planning), Master of Planning (Urban/Regional/Environmental), etc.).

3. Preferential Qualification

If two candidates score equal marks, preference will be given to a candidate who has:

  1. Served in the Territorial Army for at least two years, OR
  2. Obtained a ‘B’ certificate of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

UPPSC Assistant Town Planner Recruitment 2025: Selection Process

The selection for the post will be conducted in three successive stages:

  1. Preliminary Exam: An objective (MCQ) test for screening candidates.
  2. Main (Written) Exam: A descriptive (written) test for candidates who clear the Prelims.
  3. Document Verification: Final verification of all documents.

The final merit list will be prepared based only on the marks obtained in the Main (Written) Examination.
